David created Yorkshire Young Sinfonia, a youth orchestra for children between the ages of 12 and 18, in 2015. Since then it has been the feature of the BBC Radio 4 documentary Birth of an Orchestra”, winner of the White Rose Awards 2016 – Arts and Culture Award, and the first youth orchestra in the world to be 100% digital (using iPads instead of sheet music). Taylor estimates the company has reached a total audience of over 4 million people over three years.
“The Forbes 30 Under 30 Europe list comprises the most impressive young entrepreneurs that are reshaping Europe, and the world, for the better,” said Randall Lane, Editor of Forbes and CCO at Forbes Media. “In addition to receiving thousands of online nominations, our reporters combed the European continent for leading innovators in all ten fields. Our industry-leading judges distilled the shortlist to 300 outstanding individuals that are changing the world for the better.”
“I’m completely blown away by the news”, said David Taylor. “It really is an incredible honour and privilege to be recognised amongst some of Europe’s leading innovators and entrepreneurs. I have to say a huge thank you to all the members of the orchestra who make all of this possible. It’s also fantastic to see Yorkshire getting recognition for its work in the arts on an international stage.
Sir Gary Verity, patron of Yorkshire Young Sinfonia and Chief Executive of Welcome to Yorkshire, said: “What a fantastic achievement – I’m absolutely thrilled that David is getting this recognition for his hard work and dedication in helping aspiring young musicians develop their skills.
“The Yorkshire Young Sinfonia is a superb opportunity for Yorkshire’s young musicians and it’s a scheme we wholeheartedly support at Welcome to Yorkshire – it’s nurturing talent of the future and equipping them with all the skills they need to become modern musicians.”
